Program Lead and Varsity Coach: Erin Bourguignon

Early Years & Playing Career: Erin joined MIHS soccer in 2006, captaining varsity for three years. Despite injury, she led her team to the 2009 KingCo Championship and state finals, earning first-team all-state recognition.

Coaching Career: As a coach, Erin fosters a positive, competitive environment. She led the MIHS Girls Varsity Soccer team to excellence, earning KingCo All-League 3A Girls Soccer Coach of the Year in 2023, emphasizing teamwork and skill development.

Personal Philosophy: Erin's leadership, rooted in her student-athlete experience, highlights mentorship and sports' power to teach life lessons, supporting players' growth on and off the field.

Erin Bourguignon's legacy at MIHS is one of passion, perseverance, and excellence, profoundly inspiring future soccer stars.

Program Supporting Coach : Eddie Talerman

Eddie fell in love with the world’s game while growing up and playing voetbal/fotboll (soccer) in the Netherlands and Sweden He continued to play after moving to the US including at the high school and the collegiate levels.

Eddie is in his fourth year as an assistant coach under head coach Erin Bourguignon. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach in the MIHS Boys program, and has over a dozen years of coaching MIYSC select teams. A Mercer Island resident for more than 20 years, all 3 of his kids played soccer at MIHS.

Eddie continues to be humbled by the skills and effort of the girls coming through the program and loves the idea that he is still learning from his players and fellow coaches as he shares his own knowledge and experience.

Program Supporting Coach : Brad Pietila

Brad played high school soccer at Sunset High School in Beaverton Oregon where they made it to the State Championship final his senior year. He played for the great state of Oregon in 1978 back when select soccer meant you were playing for your state. He then played college soccer for Division III Washington University at St. Louis where his team made it to the National Championship game in 1978.

Brad coached his daughter for several years in youth soccer on Mercer Island until his daughter entered yearround soccer at EFC. This will be Brad’s fourth year volunteering as an assistant coach for the MIHS girls varsity team.
